I have installed the Teradata VMWare version on VMWare player.
I go to the terminal and issue the bteq command
I try to login with
I immediately get
*** Warning: RDBMS CRASHED OR SESSIONS RESET. RECOVERY IN PROGRESS.
After three CTRL-Cs, I can exit
I started Teradata with /etc/init.d/tpa start and the message said it started successfully
Why can't I connect with bteq?
Run pdestate -a on command line
If the dbs state is not Logons are enabled check /var/log/messages for errors during startup.
Sometimes after a crash of the VM, e.g. because that stupid Windows 10 decided to reboot without notice :-(, restarting Teradata using tpareset -y bla helps.
Rebooting a host OS while the guest VM is still running is one of the things that can cause this sort of problem.
Windows 10 is relevant only because it seems to force rebooting fairly often, and people either forget to shut down the VM first or don't even have the option to do so.
What does this have to do with Windows 10? It's running in an SLES VM
And the SLES VM is running in which OS?
Besides that, did you read the rest of my post and tried it?
Login with BTEQ from the VM command line?
And Studio from the VM, too? Did you use 127.0.0.1?
From the host you need to find out the VM's ip-address using ifconfig.
