TPT FastExport -Job step MAIN_STEP terminated (status 12)

Hi All,

I am stuck with error 'Job step MAIN_STEP terminated (status 12)' while running TPT Fast Export script.

I have set VARCHAR TRACELEVEL='ALL' & here is the log content

TPT_INFRA: TPT04101: Warning: Teradata PT cannot connect to Unity EcoSystem Manager.
The job will continue without event messages being sent to Unity EcoSystem Manager.
TPT_INFRA: TPT04197: Warning: OMD API failed to initialize
Found CheckPoint file: filename

This is a restart job; it restarts at step MAIN_STEP.

Re: TPT FastExport -Job step MAIN_STEP terminated (status 12)

You need to look at the operator logs (including private logs).

tlogview -j jobid -f "*" -g
Also note that this was a "restart" execution; you may want to remove checkpoints (twbrmcp MAIN_STEP) and start clean.

Re: TPT FastExport -Job step MAIN_STEP terminated (status 12)

Thanks Fred.

I tried deleting puglic log (jobid) file & checkpoint file. But, i still face same error as in subject.

Also, i could not locate private logs which i can see by running your command such as

Private log PXCRM

Private log TWB_SRCTGT

Private log TWB_STATUS

Private log dataconnector_log-1

I dont know how to locate them to delete. I did not see them in logs directory nor checkpoint directory.

Further, when i search for 'Error' keyword i could see below information

Private log TWB_STATUS:

MAIN_STEP            SELECT_2[0001]       Fatal Error          SQL_SELECTOR            1    1 INITIATE-Ended       09:53:27     0.0000     0.0200      65000          0

Re: TPT FastExport -Job step MAIN_STEP terminated (status 12)

Try searching for "Exit code" and then looking at the lines leading up to that.

The "private logs" are part of the .out file in the log directory.

Enthusiast

Re: TPT FastExport -Job step MAIN_STEP terminated (status 12)

Exit code is 0 (below is snippet from log and at last we can see 0 exit code)

I am deleting the .out file & checkpoint file.

Also, Undertood then there is only 1 .out file which when i view by command - tlogview -l jobid.out , only public log displays but when i try with your command - tlogview -j jobiid -f "*" -g, private & public log show up.

Re: TPT FastExport -Job step MAIN_STEP terminated (status 12)

Also, I note Fatal error in Private log TWB_STATUS:

MAIN_STEP SELECT_2[0001] Fatal Error SQL_SELECTOR 1 1 INITIATE-Ended 11:14:49 0.0000 0.0300 65000 0 0 0 0 0 N Y

I have a file created in logs directory as SELECT_2[0001]000002856002servername

I dont understand anything in that file nor see any keyword like Error or Exit and it has data something like this

PX_ParalPlan 218 {

PX_ExecutorStruct 219 {
List< > 1 {
PX_OperatorStruct 220 {

This is what shows up on terminal when i execute -

Re: TPT FastExport -Job step MAIN_STEP terminated (status 12)

You can use -l logfile or -j jobid to identify which .out file to process. The -f "*" is what asks for all the logs (or you could ask for a specific one by name. The -g says you want the messages grouped by operator; otherwise they are displayed in the sequence they were written regardless of which operator log they came from.

The snippet says the Data Connector Consumer had no data to write, and exited normally. Check the SQL Selector log, since that's the one reporting Fatal Error. Assuming there are no active TPT jobs from this client, I would remove that temporary file also, before retrying. (It's unusual for it to be left behind.

Re: TPT FastExport -Job step MAIN_STEP terminated (status 12)

Thanks for suggestion.

I deleted all files generated out of job and restarted fresh to see the issue again.

SQL Selector has only below line suspecious -

PC_GETATTRIBUTE: invalid length rcvd; expect: 4, received: 2

I am able to run the SQL on Assistant successfully. Do you know if there is any limitation to SQL or any valid SQL can be used in fast export. SQL do no thave any Union or sub queries but just a single statment with case statments ,joins ,aggregation and filter.

Any other ways or detail verbose log to debug ?

Re: TPT FastExport -Job step MAIN_STEP terminated (status 12)

You aren't using Fast Export (or TPT Export) based on what you have shared earlier. SQL Selector has even fewer restrictions than Export. But the log you posted originally doesn't show any of the messages (connecting / sending SELECT / retrieving / disconnecting) that I would expect to see from SQL Selector, just entry and exit.

Did you already try setting TraceLevel='All' in the SQL Selector operator attributes?

Maybe post the TPT script itself (redacted as necessary to not expose any sensitive info)?

Re: TPT FastExport -Job step MAIN_STEP terminated (status 12)

Hi Fred, I have used VARCHAR TraceLevel = 'ALL' in SQL Selector operatior after TPT SQL script at the end.

I was pasting only snippet. Here is the full log
