The product of the number of partitions at each level exceeds 65535.

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me understand why I'm getting this error -- The product of the number of partitions at each level exceeds 65535.

This error happened when trying to add a partition. However, when examining the table definition, the number of partitions (in my opinion) seem less than 2000:

PARTITION BY ( RANGE_N(DAY_KEY BETWEEN 2009001 AND 2009364 EACH 1 ,

2010001 AND 2010364 EACH 1 ,

2011001 AND 2011364 EACH 1 ,

2012001 AND 2012364 EACH 1 ,

2013001 AND 2013030 EACH 1 ),RANGE_N(((HASHBUCKET(HASHROW(PARTITION_CDE ))) MOD 43 )+ 1 BETWEEN 1 AND 43

EACH 1 ,

NO RANGE) );

Would appreciate your insight on this. Thanks.

Re: The product of the number of partitions at each level exceeds 65535.

I think you shouldn't be receiving the error as your partitions will be within the allowed limit.

The total partitions created will be

(364 + 364 + 364 +364 + 30) * (44) = 65384.

So I guess you should be good!
