Users and UserV visibility

When I query dbc.users or dbc.usersv, I am not able to see anyone while if I logon with admin account, I can see them normally. Is this related to rights? What is the proper steps for me to see in TD SQL Assistant or in Administrator? (no TD SD please)

Re: Users and UserV visibility

Hi,

When querying dbc.usersv you will see the following users:

- your userid

- any users that you own: this refers to the hierarchy of a Teradata system, i.e. as a result of "CREATE USER FROM yyy..." or "GIVE USER **bleep** TO yyy..." where 'yyy' is your userid or a user below you in the hierarchy

- any users that you have 'modify' access to: i.e. "GRANT DROP USER ON **bleep** TO your-userid"

Re: Users and UserV visibility

Hi,

Yes, this is related to access rights. The Users and UsersV views are both 'restricted' views, meaning that they only show you objects that you have rights to.

Probably the easiest way for you to see what you want (even with non-admin user) is to "show view dbc.usersv" and then use the select statement from there. You'll probably want to remove most of the "IN" sub-query processing.

Thanks for your prompt support Dave.
What are the steps for my account to have this access right? Is it grant select statement?

Thanks
