Projecting A 3D Sphere

I'm very new to this, so I know very little about how I need to achieve my goal using the Teradata geospatial functions.

I have multiple sets of xyz coordinates in which I need to project a sphere from the center point of each xyz with a set radius of 1000 (ft). From there need to compare each set of coordinates to see if any of them intersect another sets. Basically trying to determine if the spheres ever touch.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi Newton1965,

It sounds like you are describing to different questions:

- To project a 3D sphere, and/or
- determine which points are within 2000ft of each other (each point has a 1000ft radius).

You don't need to project a 3d sphere to determine the points. Are you using Teradata 15, which I believe has 3D geospatial ?
