Whenever it is necessary to to review lock contention in detail, we run the dumplocklog utility to capture buffered lock data into a database table for further analysis. We used to start it from PDN node. But If we do not want to login in PDN node and want same data of dumplocklog utlity Then can we get it with any procedure /API etc Where we do not require PDN node credentails ?
On current releases of TD it is better to use Query Logging (DBQL) to get this data. No dumplocklog/pdn required.
See the LOCK option.
Thanks but alreday tried with no output .
We alreday has 30 sec lock value. We are not able to track blocking with Lock Viewer in viewpoint. Blocking was between DSA backup job & DBC Unknown session. Not sure if This blocking is being capture here as I am not able to find those blocking detail in Viewpoint Lock Viewer even blocking was there for approx 1 Hour. GSC asked to share the Locking logger data. Do we have any alternate for locking logger?
The Viewpoint collector obtains the lock data from DBQL for current database releases. If you have not activated LOCK logging or are not running the collector, then the "viewer" portlet has no data to display.
We have DBQL enabled for ALL with Lock value 30 seconds. But still we are not able to find the data for blocking for those users. So if run lock logger, we can get all require detail but if we do not want to login on PDN node and want to get same output as "dumplocklog" utility then do we have any other way ?
If there is a more specific rule for the blocked user / account that does not include LOCK (or obviously, if the block lasts less than the 30 seconds indicated) then it won't be logged.
Is the Viewpoint lock collector running (successfully)?
We have logging for ALL with Lock=3000. We have checked lock collector which is running fine. But we did not see blocking detail of backup user with DBC unknown session. I checked with GSC then they provided KCS007287 which can help with locking detail without login into OS level.
