TSET stands for Teradata System Emulation Tool which is the tool used to emulate the data from a target (production) system to a test system where queries can be run without impacting the production system. TSET is used to imitate the impact of environmental changes on SQL statement performance and to determine the source of Optimizer-based query issues using imported environment cost data and random AMP sample based statistical data.
How it works:
Capturing data from a target system and applying it to a test system is a two-phased process: 1. Relevant data on the target system is read and then written to a staging area. 2. The staged data is imported to the test system and applied to the appropriate data tables.
