Our enterprise teradata version is 13.10.07.12. I have installed TTU 15 on our 64bit windows server. While trying to use TPT wizard to connect to SQL Server using odbc DSN I am getting Driver Error: There was an error initializing the driver for usage.
I am using Microsoft sql server native client 10.0 odbc driver. I know that this driver is not recommended but that is all I can afford to use as it is free.
I can connect to sql server using tpt wizard with out any issues on my local 32 bit xp machine. I have generated a tpt script on my local machine and ran it on our windows server. Script ran sucessfully but exported zero rows...
Below is my TPT script:
Update:
I have tested the TPT wizard and I am able to export rows into text document with out any issues from a teradata table. It is only exporting zero rows if my source is sql server.
This is a known issue and has been fixed in 15.00.00.02 (you are running 15.00.00.00).
Please download the latest 15.00 patch/efix.
Thanks!
Actually, 15.00.00.02 may not have been released yet.
Looks like it is schedule for mid-July.
In the meantime, you can always download a free 15-day evaluation copy of the DataDirect drivers.
Thank you for your response Steve.
What is the reason for this issue? is it because of 64bit OS?
One more question I have is.... Is it a good approach/legal to update tools to latest version even though enterprise database is an older version?
Yes, it was related to 64-bit TPT.
The Microsoft driver needed something set explicitly whereas the DataDirect driver did not (accepted our default setting).
We always recommend that you keep current with the latest efixes/patches of our client software. By that, I mean if you have version 14.10, then keep up-to-date with the patches. If there is an issue, we cannot assist unless you are at the latest version.
If you have, say, a 14.10 version of the DBS, it does not necessarily mean you should upgrade your client to 15.0 or 15.10. Most people try to keep the client and database versions at the same level.
However, our client software supports 3-4 releases of Teradata, so you will not run into issues if you have an older database release than client.
