I read from a table with data in Latin Character Set and want to export in the same way, in order to read the special characters like äöü.
I tried the "using character set LATIN1252_0A" and other LATIN specs before the Define but it always said:
TPT_INFRA: TPT05012: CLI error 227 in fetching response for request (null).
MTDP: EM_CHARNAME(227): invalid character set name specified.
The LATIN1252_0A character set is supplied by Teradata but not installed by default. See the database International Character Set Support manual.
Why not export as UTF-8?
Just found out that this is for input definition (how the data is stored in the TDDB) and not for output translation! Right?
Same answer in general. Either translate the input on the client side and use a standard session character set (e.g. UTF-8) for loading or install an appropriate alternate character set (e.g. LATIN1252_0A for Windows 1252 or your own custom site-defined character set) to do the translation on the database side.
